The Diamondbacks have been one of the most surprising stories in baseball this year.

Sixty games into the season, they are tied for first place with the Dodgers in the NL West.

Why not chat with the guy who put the team together?

D’backs GM Mike Hazen joined “The Show” podcast with Joel Sherman and Jon Heyman.

‘The Show’ Podcast with Joel Sherman & Jon Heyman:

  • FIRST PLACE RANGERS: Even with Jacob deGrom out and now getting Tommy John surgery, the Rangers are finding ways to win. They have a lot of firepower on offense.
  • MARLINS SURPRISING START: They are 16-4 in one-run games. Is this sustainable? Shocking start so far.
  • METS’ ROCKY SEASON: They are not very good at all right now. Francisco Lindor needs to start hitting. Jeff McNeil needs to hit. Everyone is underachieving. Mets will need bullpen help at the trade deadline.

Mike Hazen Interview:
Diamondbacks GM

  • STRONG START: As of now they look like a buyer. Been a great first 60 games.
  • TRADE DEADLINE: Need to get some pitching. Been a lot of dramatic baseball lately. They can also use another big bat with some power. A lot of teams still in it will make it a tougher trade market. Will need to add some firepower externally.
  • CORBIN CARROLL: Not sure why so many teams passed up on him. They got lucky. He is an incredible player and a leader on the team.
  • MADISON BUMGARNER/ZAC GALLEN: Don’t regret the signing. It just did not work out on the mound. Zac Gallen has been a complete pitcher and an ace.
  • FARM SYSTEM: Have some more plug-and-play pitchers than position players in Triple-A at the moment. They have a strong system overall and guys in the pipeline.
  • NICOLE HAZEN FUND FOR HOPE: Tragically lost his wife last season due to glioblastoma. How life has been with his four kids and being a GM, while raising money for the cause.
