Transgender rapist’s wife calls her transition a ‘ploy’ to get ‘easier life in prison’

The estranged wife of a transgender woman who was convicted of raping two women when she was a man has accused the “monster” of “bulls—-ing” authorities to get “an easier life in prison” — after she was sent to a female prison to await sentencing.

Shonna Graham, 31, told the Daily Mail that she had only known Isla Bryson, also 31, as shaven-headed Adam Graham, the name he was still using in 2020 during a court appearance for the rape of two women.

“When I saw the photos of him dressed as a woman with a blond wig and pink Lycra leggings, I fell out of bed laughing,” she said of the “monster” rapist.

“Never once did he say anything to me about feeling he was in the wrong body or anything.”

Graham said she has “a lot of sympathy for real transgender people,” but the rapist she married in 2016 is “just bullsh—ing the authorities.”

“His gender transition is a sham for attention and an easier life in prison,” said Graham, without using her husband’s preferred new pronoun.

Shonna Graham, 31, said her husband transitioned to Isla Bryson as a “sham” to get an easier life in prison.

“I can see why he doesn’t want to be in a prison with loads of big, scary men, so he’s come up with this ploy to get himself a much easier sentence,” she claimed.

She said it was “outrageous” that the rapist — who still had a shaved head and a Mike Tyson-style face tattoo when he raped two women in 2016 and 2019 — will be locked up with women.

“Will one of the vulnerable women inmates be the next victim to be attacked by him?” she asked.

“He won’t stop, it’s in his nature … He’s a monster and I hope they throw away the key,” she said.

Graham told the outlet that she is trying to divorce the convict, accusing him of domestic abuse and even trying to rape her.

Bryson is being held at Cornton Vale women’s prison, where she’s reportedly being kept in segregation until sentencing at the end of February.

She is allowed to serve her time in a women’s prison because of a controversial new law in Scotland that allows someone to legally change their gender without the need for a medical diagnosis of gender dysphoria.

“We now have the utterly perverse situation where a Scottish court refers to someone who says he identifies as female using ‘her penis’ to rape two vulnerable women,” said Russell Findlay, a conservative member of Scottish Parliament.

“We warned of the inevitability of this happening,” he said of the new law, “but for it to have become reality is deeply worrying and an affront to the victims.”

Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling is among those who have attacked the law, calling Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon a “destroyer of women’s rights.”

UK Justice Secretary Dominic Raab stressed that the same rules do not apply in England and Wales, where transitioning adults can only apply for a Gender Recognition Certificate after living under their preferred gender for at least two years, rather than three months in Scotland.

He also said that “bar the most exceptional” cases, “transgender women who have committed sex crimes or retain male genitalia can’t be held in women’s prisons.”
